Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has launched parcel, courier and cargo services to improve the income of the organisation as it was unable to get revenue through passenger services with the lockdown.

The PCC (parcel, courier and cargo) services would be taken up in all the bus stations by the staff of the Corporation. Private agents would also be engaged in the activities. In the first phase about 104 cargo buses would be run. State Road Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar along with Special Chief Secretary Roads and transportation kick started the services.

The services would be extended by contacting government and non-government agencies to book the parcels. The potentiality of the e-commerce would be tapped to improve the PCC services.

Parcel services would be provided to e-commerce companies with credibility. As the RTC has its network spread to the village level it would be able to provide better service to those companies. This would help the e-commerce companies to improve their business and also help RTC to get more revenue.

Cargo buses would serve the government agencies and private companies. The parcel and courier services would be provided though all the buses being run by the RTC. The services would be started from 140 bus stations from bus station to bus station manner.

Soon the RTC would come out with a mobile app for the benefit of the consumers who want to send small covers and parcels. Officials said that 5 per cent GST would be applicable to a charge of Rs 750 and it would be 2 per cent if the charges are between Rs 5001 to Rs 10,000. RTC would charge Rs 10 as insurance premium on them.
