Kadapa: Doctor by profession, M Sudhir Reddy is waging poll battle against senior politician P Ramasubba Reddy in Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency. The YSRCP fielded M Sudhir Reddy, who is new to politics, and TDP gave ticket to Ramasubba Reddy, who won as MLA in 1994 and 1999. It will be a tough task for Sudhir Reddy to take on Ramasubba Reddy and Kadapa TDP Lok Sabha candidate and former MLA Adinarayana Reddy, who is native of Devagudi village in Jammalamadugu segment.
He won as Jammalamadugu MLA for in 2004, 2009 and 2014 elections. Another threat to the YSRCP candidate is party's women wing leader A Padmavathi, who expected ticket, will be filing nomination as an independent. There are 2,27,596 voters against total population of 3,06,323 in the Jammalamadugu segment in which 1.11 lakh are male 1.16 lakh are female voters.
In 2014 elections, Adinarayana Reddy had contested on YSRCP ticket and defeated TDP contestant P Ramasubba Reddy with a margin of 12,167 votes. As per the 2011 census, SCs comprise of 15.02 per cent from the total population and Reddy community accounts to 18 per cent. The district administration has set up 291 polling stations in the constituency.
