Kakinada: Social Welfare Minister Pinipe Viswaroop said that distribution of the house sites for poor has assumed great significance in the country.

Participating in the distribution of house sites through the lottery system here on Friday, the minister said that on the eve of former Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhar Reddy's birthday, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the "Pedalandariki Illu" programme on July 8.

He assured that those deserving but not received the house sites need not be anxious. Viswaroop has commented that by giving house sites to 32,000 poor people was a happy phenomenon. Kakinada MP Vanga Geetha said a new town ship was likely to come up near to Kakinada in a sprawling area of 300 acres. In that area a layout has been made with all infrastructure facilities like roads, water and drainage system.

District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said that the Chief Minister had allotted Rs 2,000 crore for district out of the Rs. 6,000 crores allotted for the entire state. He said that house sites will be allotted to 3.80 lakh beneficiaries in the district. City MLA Dwarampudi Chandrshekhar Reddy said that big layouts have been created both in Kakinada and Vizianagaram for the benefit of poor.

He said that in Komaragi village of U Kothapalli mandal layouts have been created for the benefit of poor. Municipal Commissioner Swapinil Dinakar Pundakar stated that as part of the Navaratnalu, out of 31,000 beneficiaries, 16,601 beneficiaries allotted house sites at Komaragiri village, U Kothapalli mandal through the lottery system.
