The Inauguration of 28th Congress of APTSMS (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Society for Mathematical Sciences) and three- day National Conference on "Recent Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics" with a theme-'Ancient Indian Mathematics' began at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) on Friday.

Tirupati: The Inauguration of 28th Congress of APTSMS (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Society for Mathematical Sciences) and three- day National Conference on "Recent Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics" with a theme-'Ancient Indian Mathematics' began at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) on Friday. It was being organised by the Department of Mathematics of RSVP.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Prof K Hemachandra Reddy felt that Adhyayana and Pravachana should go together, which means one should practice his beliefs before preaching to the rest.

Also due to the keen interest in acquiring knowledge, Indians contributed their efforts in solving Y2k problem for computers. He recalled that even Einstein made a statement that everyone should owe to Indians for inventing zero (0) for which Indians have to salute Indian mathematicians Aryabhatta, Bhaskaracharya.

In his address, Vice -Chancellor of Vidyapeetha, Prof V Muralidhara Sharma gone back to the annals of the book on 'History of Indian Mathematics' of Balakrishna Dikshit by stating that Indian Mathematical system is more than 5,000 years old. Zero (0) was invented by Aryabhatta, Father of Indian Mathematics.

President of APTSMS Prof Kesavareddy, General Secretary Prof D Bharathi, Organising Secretary Dr Ajmeera Chandulal, conference convenor Dr V Ramesh Babu and former VC of Dravidian University Prof PV Arunachalam also spoke on the occasion.

The dignitaries have released the conference souvenir on the occasion. More than 170 delegates from AP and Telangana and students attended the conference.
