All India Meet of Sri Sathya Sai Skill Centres begins in Puttaparthi
Puttaparthi: The two-day All India Meet of Sri Sathya Sai Skill Development Centres (SDCs), organised by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations–India, commenced at Prasanthi Nilayam on Friday. Delegates from across the country gathered to strengthen skill development initiatives and promote sustainable livelihoods.
Addressing the participants, RJ Ratnakar, Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, emphasised programmes that empower individuals, build character and foster selfless service. He urged delegates to explore new upskilling opportunities, enhance product quality, establish systematic centre management and expand outreach to more deserving people.
Recalling Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s pioneering vocational training efforts in 1970s, Rathnakar noted their continued relevance. He also highlighted the positive response to a recent 40-day Tally and GST training programme for women in Puttaparthi. More than 300 skill development centres nationwide produce over 3,700 varieties of products, including bags, embroidery, handicrafts, jewellery and traditional foods. These initiatives help people from disadvantaged backgrounds acquire practical skills, earn dignified livelihoods and achieve financial self-reliance.
Ratnakar visited an exhibition of products made by trained beneficiaries and appreciated their quality and craftsmanship.
