Nellore: MA&UD Minister P Narayana said the government was upgrading government schools on par with corporate standards, aiming to provide quality education to underprivileged students.
Along with his daughter Ponguru Sharani, he laid foundation stone for the modernisation of Mallela Sanjeevaiah Government High School at AC Nagar here on Friday.
Minister Narayana informed that Jigma Company came forward to modernise Mallela Sanjeevaiah School with Rs 9.69 crore from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. He urged students to make the best use of the modern facilities being provided, concentrate on their studies and strive to achieve higher positions in life.
P Sharani said that her father gives more importance to education and the initiative to develop government schools was driven by his desire to ensure that underprivileged students did not have to face poverty and hardships which he had experienced during his childhood.
She explained that digital learning facilities were being introduced in government schools and astronomy laboratories were also being established to improve students’ understanding of space science. Later, Minister Narayana inspected various schools in Nellore city.
DEO Balaji Rao, MEO Tirupal, Headmaster Murali Krishna, Jigma Company representative Shankar Narayana, Corporator Kartam Pratap Reddy and others were present.
