Visakhapatnam: Scores of volunteers from all walks of life, students from various colleges along with Jana Sena Party supporters, workers and leaders joined the much-awaited long march with the Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan at Maddilapalem junction on Sunday.

The long march, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., started off a little before 4:30 p.m. at Maddilapalem Telugu Talli statue. With glass symbol printed party flags fluttering high all along the path of the long march which is expected to cover a distance of over 2.5 kms, moved at a snail's pace as huge crowds gathered at Maddilapalem, Asilmetta, GVMC office and Jail Road to extend support to Pawan Kalyan's endeavour.

Waving at people and folding his hands in a formal namaste, Pawan Kalyan boarded the top of a four-wheeler and commenced his march from Maddilapalem.

The roads were bursting at the seams as large crowds gathered to get a glimpse of the JSP chief.

Police had a tough time in controlling the crowd as the numbers swelled when the march progressed towards the Old Jail Road.

Traffic at Maddilapalem, Rama Talkies, Asilmetta junction, GVMC office, Gollalapalem junction came to a standstill as traffic restrictions were placed by the police and there were no vehicular movement all along the route.

The long march will be followed by a public meeting at Old Jail Road where the march will be concluded.

Pawan Kalyan will address the gathering on issues pertaining to shortage of sand supply and action plan to be taken to cope with the same, means to provide livelihood to the construction workers along with allied workers and save their lives.
