Guntur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar said that the administration will take all steps to conduct the elections peacefully to 3 Parliamentary and 17 Assembly constituencies in the district as per schedule released by the Election Commission of India.
Addressing media at the Collectorate here on Sunday, he said that the administration would receive nominations from March 18 to 25 and added the scrutiny of the nominations would be held on March 26-27. The last date for withdrawal of nominations would be March 28. He said polling would be held on April 11 and counting of votes would be held on May 23.
He said district collector is returning officer for Guntur Parliamentary constituency, joint collector is returning officer for Narasaraopet Parliamentary constituency and Prakasam district joint collector is the returning officer for Bapatla Parliamentary constituency.
He said applications will be received for enrollment of voters before March 15. He made it clear that without consent of the EC, the votes could not be deleted from voters' lists. He sought cooperation of parties for conducting the elections peacefully. Guntur Rural SP S V Rajasekhar Babu and Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao were present on the occasion.
