Amaravati: Jana Sena demanded to provide financial assistance to workers in construction sector and ensure proper work to them by arranging sufficient sand.

The party president Pawan Kalyan also demanded to provide autonomous status to the existing AP Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, so as to allow the body to take independent decisions for the welfare and well being of the workers in the construction sector.

He criticised that the officials and government have been misusing the funds available with the Board, and diverting the amount for other purposes. The money in the Board must be utilized for the welfare of the construction workers only, he demanded.

At the same time, he criticised that as the State government utterly failed in controlling the sand mafia, there was artificial scarcity in the market. That led to unemployment.

It is worth mentioning here that, at present the Board is functioning as a tripartite body consisting of representatives from workers, employer and Government officials. The Board registered more than 20 lakhs construction workers as beneficiaries.
