Expresses concern over several cases being reported at the Vegetable Wholesale Market in Guntur

Amaravati: The TDP politburo on Friday flayed Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for not taking proper measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The virtual politburo meeting of the TDP held late on Thursday night expressed concern over the rise in number of positive cases. Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu presided over the meeting. It opined that if the cases were not controlled, it would badly hit the State's economy. Already the State was suffering due to rampant corruption and anti-investment policies being pursued by the YSRCP government, Naidu said.

The TDP also expressed anguish over several cases being reported at Guntur Wholesale Vegetable Market. The Opposition party demanded that the government should focus on preventive measures at all the markets in the State considering the volatility of the situation.

The politburo also opined that the Centre was bringing about amendments to the Electricity Act following the thoughtless review of the Power Purchase Agreements made by the Jagan's government.

Referring to the World Environment Day being observed on June 5, Naidu lambasted the State government for not taking measures to protect environment. Illegal sand mining turned rampant and there was no check on destruction of mangroves, he pointed out.

Naidu recalled how the previous TDP government implemented Neeru Chettu programme and urban forestry in a big way. Farm ponds were dug up all over the State to recharge the groundwater table. Forests were developed in over 2,141 sq km. LED bulbs were used in a big way till 2019 in the State, he added.
