The state government issued a GO designating July 8 as ‘Rythu Dinotsavam' henceforth

Amaravati: The state government issued a GO designating July 8 as 'Rythu Dinotsavam' henceforth. The day is to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, former Chief Minister of unified AP state.

Last year, the Chief Minister had announced that his father's birth anniversary would be celebrated as a farmers' day in the state from this year to benefit farmers in several ways.

A GO issued here on Monday said that the decision had been taken as YSR had taken many measures for the welfare of farmers.

However, it is not clear whether the day marks any other programmes or just meant to celebrate 'Rythu Dinotsavam'.
