Vijayawada: The members of Andhra Pradesh Private and Un-Aided Schools Management Association (APPUSMA) welcomed the decision of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to extend Amma Vodi scheme to private schools.

Addressing the gathering at the APPUSMA executive committee meeting, the association state president A Krishna Reddy on Sunday said that Jaganmohan Reddy stood by his word in implementing Amma Vodi scheme.

He fulfilled his promise at the time of Padayatra without any further confusion. He said that to make AP 100 per cent literacy state, the scheme would be implemented with an estimated cost of Rs 9,000 crore.

The parents of about 30 lakh students who are studying in private schools across the state would be benefited with the scheme, he said and added that APPUSMA will support all the schemes of government for the development of education in the state.

The members of the executive committee unanimously resolved that the High Court verdict on obtaining No Objection Certificate from the Fire department should be simplified. Reddy further said that the new executive committee will be elected at Guntur.

The association founder president V Janardhan Reddy, treasurer J Balaji, official representative Tulasi Vishnu Prasad, committee members of 13 districts were present.
