Tirupati: As many as 300 special bus services will be operated by APSRTC and Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings (TNSTUs) 150 each from various places in Tamil Nadu for the convenient of pilgrims for the annual Brahmotsavams in Tirumala.

At the joint meeting of RTC officials and their counter parts in TN held here on Tuesday an agreement for the inter-State bus operation was signed for operating the special buses for Brahmotsavams which will be held from September 30 to October 8.

APSRTC special buses will be operated in seven routes connecting Tirupati and Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore and Puducherry while TNSTUs to operate special buses in 24 routes from major cities to Tirupati including Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Nagapattinam, Salem, Tirupattur, Sengottai, Kallakurichi and Vellore for the convenient of the pilgrims.

The meet also discussed in detail the measures to be taken up jointly by the two state transport authorities for the smooth operation of the additional bus services, parking places and also facilities for safety measures of the passengers.

Chittoor Regional Manager T Chengal Reddy said that as the Brahmotsavams also coincide with the Tamil Perattasi month most auspicious for the devotees for visiting Tirumala to offer prayers more so on Saturdays, the RTC expecting heavy during the month, would operate 2,000 trips for ferrying pilgrims between Tirupati and Tirumala. TNSTC Managing Director Muthukumaran and from APSRTC, Deputy Chief Traffic Manager Madhusudhan and other officials attended.
