Bharat Ratna for Pingali Venkayya demanded in Vijayawada
Senior journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao said that the national flag architect, Pingali Venkayya should be honored with Bharat Ratna.
Vijayawada: Senior journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao said that the national flag architect, Pingali Venkayya should be honored with Bharat Ratna. Kutumba Rao was the chief guest at the 17th anniversary celebrations of Vijaya Krishna Jana Jagruthi organisation held at Swarna Kalyana Mandapam here on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, he said that as per the call given by Mahatma Gandhi, Pingali Venkayya, who hails from Krishna district, designed the national flag for the country. He appreciated the members of Vijaya Krishna Jana Jagruthi organization for collecting signatures for Pingalli Venkayya Stamp and to honor Pingali Venkayya with Bharat Ratna.
Organisation president Kalidasu said that the organisation was doing its best for the development of Machilipatnam. He outlined the various activities the organisation had taken up in the last 17 years beyond politics. He said that they would carry many more development programmes for the development of Machilipatnam in the days to come.
