BJP demands impartial inquiry into deaths of 86 cows in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Telangana BJP MLA Thakur Raja Singh on Monday visited Gosala at Kotturu Tadepalli village where 86 cows died two days ago.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said that he suspected some conspiracy in the death of the cows at a large-scale and demanded that Andhra Pradesh government to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to bring out the facts.

He also demanded that the government complete the investigation as soon as possible and take stern action against the culprits. He said that a total of 128 cows which were fed on Friday night fell sick, of these, 86 cows died.

There are about 1,500 cows in the Goshala which is one of the biggest Goshalas in AP, he added. Meanwhile, AP BJP leader and MLC Madhav also alleged that the death of 86 cows might have been caused due to toxic feed.

He also demanded that police, veterinary and forensic officials conduct probe in coordination with each other. He also opined that a Santhi Homam must be conducted.

DGP Gowtham Sawang on Monday appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the death of 86 cows at Gosala located at Kotturu Tadepalli village on the outskirts of the city two days ago.

Some organisations have demanded that a detailed probe should be conducted into the incidents that led to the death of cows after they were fed with the fodder. An ACP-level officer will head the SIT and it will conduct a detailed investigation. ACP K Srinivas will lead the SIT.

Two Circle Inspectors, two Sub-Inspectors of police and one expert of Cybercrime are the members of the SIT and it will submit report to the Commissioner of Police Dwaraka Tirumala Rao.

On the other hand, the investigation being conducted by the Department of Animal Husbandry may submit its report either on Tuesday or Wednesday. Due to holidays on Sunday and Monday, the probe has been delayed, said a senior officer of the Animal Husbandry department.
