Candidates can verify security at strongrooms
Eluru: Candidates who contested in recently held elections can personally visit and verify the security arranged for EVM protection at strongrooms once in a week.
Eluru: Candidates who contested in recently held elections can personally visit and verify the security arranged for EVM protection at strongrooms once in a week. This was disclosed at a meeting of the contesting candidates organised by Collector and District Election Officer here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the candidates that they can either personally visit the strong rooms or can send their representative to verify the safety measures at the strong rooms. He revealed that three-tier security system was provided to the strong rooms with uninterrupted power supply.
A control room was set up on the premises of the strongrooms with CCTVs. Those candidates who visited the premises to watch the security through CCTVs have to sign in the log book there. The EVMs have been sealed in the presence of poll observers and representatives of the contesting candidates after completion of polling.
On the postal ballots, the Collector said that postal ballots received by 3 pm on May 22 will be preserved in treasury. The sealed ballots would be counted on May 23.
