Buoyed with the success of ‘Super Sixty’ a residential special coaching for SSC students studying in corporation schools, the municipal corporation of Tirupati (MCT) decided to extend the coaching covering all the nine corporation high schools.
Tirupati: Buoyed with the success of 'Super Sixty' a residential special coaching for SSC students studying in corporation schools, the municipal corporation of Tirupati (MCT) decided to extend the coaching covering all the nine corporation high schools.
The coaching in the schools will be on non-residential basis. Disclosing this at a media conference here on Wednesday, MCT commissioner V Vijay Rama Raju said five students, who availed the residential coaching this year got 10 GPA in the SSC examination.
This was first time corporation school students getting GPA 10, he said, adding that the overall pass percentage of the corporation schools which is 82 per cent last year increased significantly to 91 per cent this year (2019). Under 'super sixty' residential coaching, 53 meritorious students from the nine corporation schools were selected for special coaching, civic body chief said informing that all the 53 passed in SSC while 46 of them got 9 and above GPA which is quite impressive keeping in view of their family social and educational background.
Extending similar intense coaching in all schools this year to cover all students studying SSC will sure to increase the performance of schools, he averred. The five students, who scored 10 GPA in SSC this year are N Vamsi Kumar (Tambuvanigunta High School), S Sowjanya (Malavyaji High School), A Kavya and C Madhavi (Korlagunta High School) and Y Akshitha (Satyanarayanapuram High School).
In all, 515 students from corporation schools appeared for the examination in which 467 passed recording 91 percent pass percentage while a total of 92 students got 9 and above GPA. The only Urdu high school in Nehru Nagar which scored 100 percent pass percentage is in first place with all the 15 students appeared for SSC passed. Urdu school headmaster Dilshad Bi said high school which came into existence in 2012 has been trying to get 100 percent pass percentage since the first batch of SSC in 2015 March and finally achieved it in 2019. The Urdu high school pass percentage was 86 in 2015, 75 in 2016, 92 in 2017, 94 in 2018 and this year 2019 the SSC pass percentage was 100 percent, she explained.
She said that as it is the only Urdu medium school in the eastern part of Chittoor district, minority community students from various places including Puttur, Srikalahasti, Chandragiri, Renigunta and other places joining in the school to get education in their mother tongue Urdu.
It is needless to say that the achievement of cent percent pass in SSC is sure to inspire more families belonging to minority community join their children in the school improving its strength which is now 317 including primary 117 and high school 200.
