Amaravati: TDP State president K Atchannaidu on Sunday expressed concern that the YSRCP government was not taking stringent action even though the attacks on temples were taking place in the State on a daily basis.
Atchannaidu condemned the latest attack on the Anjaneya Swamy Temple at Yellampalli village in Chandragiri mandal in Chittoor district. The miscreants had broken the doors of the temple and desecrated its premises. There seemed to be no end to the ongoing attacks on the Hindu temples under the indifferent YSRCP regime, he wondered.
In a statement here, the TDP leader asked why Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was not breaking his silence on the ongoing attacks. His silence was abetting the offenders to commit more and more desecrations. Till now, there were over 140 attacks that had taken place and the count was increasing with each passing day. Yet, the Chief Minister had not made a single statement about this regime's plans to curb the incidents.
Atchannaidu warned of a people's agitation if the ruling party continued its negligence and indifference to the sentiments of the devotees in the State. It was only with an ulterior motive to divert the attention of the devotees that Jagan Reddy started the drama of foundation stones for temples in Vijayawada city. Instead of arresting the offenders in the temple desecrations, the government was playing the diversionary tactics.
The TDP leader demanded that the Chief Minister begin work on the Rs 150 crore Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Amaravati capital city area. Even the 'Divya Darshanam' programme was stopped, he pointed out.
The government was causing immense harm to the Hindu devotees by diverting the funds of the Endowments department. Very unfortunately, the Endowment lands were also taken away for distribution in the name of house sites.
Atchannaidu accused the YSRCP leaders of turning a deaf ear to the demands for saving the temples and idols from the ongoing attacks. The ruling party would pay a heavy price for its omissions and commissions as the people would teach a fitting lesson at the earliest opportunity.
