Court Martial playlet captivates audience
The 90th annual celebrations of Andhra Nataka Kala Parishad commenced here on Wednesday at Sidhartha Auditorium.
Vijayawada: The 90th annual celebrations of Andhra Nataka Kala Parishad commenced here on Wednesday at Sidhartha Auditorium. The organisers had planned to celebrate the multi languages drama festival for four days wherein Hindi, Telugu, English language dramas were scheduled.
The festival started with a Hindi playlet "Court Martial", written by Swadesh Deepak. The artistes performed well with most timing and energy under the director Rathna Sekar Reddy. The stage design, modulation, good expressions have made the playlet very interesting. The hard hitting dialogues, intense dramatic moments and improbable climax made this play interested.
Court Martial is the story of a recruit Ramchandar who is accused of killing his senior officer and injuring another. Ramchandar's trial brings startling facts into light that questions the norms of society. This Court Martial was presided by war veteran Col Surat Singh, accustomed to the brutality of life but is left completely unarmed and broken during the course of this trial.
Ramchandar's trial is not only a fight for his life but a fight for a bigger truth. A truth that is more important than his own life. The director had performed the defence and received complements from the audience. Though it is performed in Hindi language, audience enjoyed the flavour of the drama.
Anuroop Katari, Kiran Yarnam, Dinesh, Vamsi, Charithanath, Karthikesh, Bhavana, Sagar, Boga Manideep and Hemanth were in the cast. The second programme of the day "Margadarsi" was presented by YS Krishneswara Rao. The story telling is based on the 80 years back story of Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry.
With his original modulation and rendering of dialogue Krishneswara Rao grabbed the attention of the audience. In the inauguration meeting Mandali Buidha Prasad, P Lakshmana Rao, Kandimalla Sambasiva Rao, Samanthapudi Narasa Raju, Annamaneni Prasad participated.
