Guntur: MLC Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad urged the people to use clay Vinayala idols for Vinayaka Chaviti festival to avoid pollution. He distributed clay Vinayaka idols on the occasion of Vinyaka Chaviti festival at a programme held in the TDP state office in Guntur on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that if we use Vinaya idols made with Plaster of Paris, chemical colours will pollute the water after immersion of idols in the water and spoil the environment.
They would, in turn, harm the fish and other living creatures in lakes and rivers. He stressed on the need to protect environment.
