Anesthesiologist Dr Sudhakar has approached the High Court that he has been detained at a government psychiatric hospital in Visakhapatnam on May 16 in contrary to regulations. He said that his health condition was deteriorating as he was forced to use antipsychotic medications despite having no illness. He sought to take him to a private hospital for better treatment and requested to be treated under the supervision of the High Court. A petition was filed in the High Court on Thursday seeking an interim injunction on the matter.

The Secretary of Home Ministry, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Health, the DGP, the Visakha CP, and the Superintendent of the Visakhapatnam Mental Hospital have been named as respondents in the petition. The lawsuit is expected to be heard in the High Court today.

Meanwhile, the investigation of Dr Sudhakar's case is handed over to Visakhapatnam CBI. The orders were issued on Thursday to this extent. The state High Court has expressed outrage over the mistreatment by the government over Dr. Sudhakar's case and ordered the CBI to submit its report within eight weeks. The case registered by the police has also been transferred to the CBI. It was ordered to decide if there was a conspiracy angle in the entire affair. CBI officials are preparing to start an investigation within two days.
