Srikakulam: No children should be left outside school in the age group of 6 to 14 years, said District Collector J Nivas here on Wednesday.

The Collector held a review meeting with officials of the education department on 'Mana Badiki Podam-Mana Badi Mana Ooru' programme here on Wednesday. On the occasion, the Collector directed officials and teachers to visit all villages and all houses to motivate parents to admit their children in government schools.

Teachers are having more responsibility in protecting government education system which is available to poor people, he said. Teachers and mandal level officials concerned should visit local Anganwadi centers and enumerate number of students and motivate their parents to admit their children in government schools right at the elementary level.

Officials and staff of integrated child development society (ICDS) need to support teachers locally and motivate the parents by explaining qualitative changes in government schools.

Speaking on the occasion, project officer (PO) of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Dr B. Srinivasa Rao explained that so far they have identified total 6,918 dropout children and were making efforts to admit them into schools again.

Additional Joint Collector P Rajanikantha Rao, District Education Officer (DEO) M Sairam, mandal educational officers (MEOs) and teachers attended.
