Visakhapatnam: On Monday wee hours, a mobile harbour crane, which was unloading the iron-ore, caught fire at EQ -7 berth in Vizag Port. The crane, owned and operated by Seapol Port Limited. Luckily no one was injured in the accident as per the initial information.

As per sources, the accident happened at 12:15 am on Monday. The fire broke out at the crane's engine and quickly engulfed the entire crane. Authorities are suspicious that short circuit might be the reason for the fire mishap.

Within 14 days this was the second fire accident in the Vizag Port. Earlier on August 27, a mobile crane caught fire when it was unloading the iron ore from the vessel MV Yasa Falcon at WQ -1 berth.

Port authorities are yet to reveal the full details of the accident and also the ship, stevedore and other particulars. Seapol Port Limited owns both the cranes shattered in the fire accident.
