APATA members appealed to the operators not to withdraw the flight from July 16 as was proposed.

Visakhapatnam: Independent Director of Air India Limited D. Purandeswari, vice-president of Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers Association (APATA) O. Naresh Kumar and its member Suresh met CEO of Alliance Air C S Subbiah and Chairman and Managing Director of Air India Ltd Ashwani Lohana on Tuesday in New Delhi and requested them to continue Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada-Tirupati-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam flight. APATA members appealed to the operators not to withdraw the flight from July 16 as was proposed.

On their request, the CMD agreed to continue the service of the evening flight (around 6 p.m.), Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada-Hyderabad flight this month itself, without any interruption.

However, he agreed to consider a connecting flight to Tirupati at a later date. According to Subbiah, Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada-Tirupati flight was incurring a loss to the tune of Rs.20 crore even with 75% occupancy.
