Godavari Boat Extraction Works Are Going at Brisk Pace: The first Attempt Failed

The rescue operation for extracting boat from the river Godavari is progressing at Kutchullur in East Godavari district. The first attempt failed when the rope was pulled with the Proclainers as part of the boat extraction. Dharmadi Satyam team is making another attempt to launch langers into the river. The boat, which weighs about 25 tonnes, is expected to be filled with sand due to the recent floods.
The boat accident took place at Kachuluru in Godavari River in East Godavari district wherein 73 passengers went missing. As many as 38 bodies were retrieved, and the search operation is underway to trace the remaining dead bodies.
After vigorous trials by the NDRF and other states' disaster managements teams, the government of Andhra Pradesh has hired Balaji Marine Company to bring the boat out. The operation Vashishta started yesterday, and it is expected that the ship will be recovered soon.
