Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha said that state government is allocating funds in a big way to bring past glory to ancient arts and rural sports.

Kadapa: Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha said that state government is allocating funds in a big way to bring past glory to ancient arts and rural sports. He inaugurated inter-district silambam (stick fighting etc) competitions for the children of 14-17 years here on Sunday and addressed the gathering.

He said silambam, an ancient art form, was in existence in Rayalaseema region and several artistes from Kadapa district got national level awards. The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the state government has been honouring sports men who have secured gold , silver and bronze medals at national level with cash award.

He said government is planning to construct stadiums in rural areas with the view of promoting rural sports. He advised the students to show interest in sports as sportsmen will be given priority in government jobs.

MLC K Narasimha Raju, Inspector of Physical Education Bhanumurthy Raju, Regional Inspector of Physical Education K Ramakrishna and others were present.
