Guntakal: Railways lauded for transporting migrant labourers

Beginning with the first Shramik Special Train rolled out from the Zone on May 1, 2020, South Central Railway has run 235 Shramik special trains and transported over 3 lakh migrant workers to their respective destinations till June 5, 2020

Guntakal: Beginning with the first Shramik Special Train rolled out from the Zone on May 1, 2020, South Central Railway has run 235 Shramik special trains and transported over 3 lakh migrant workers to their respective destinations till June 5, 2020.

Out of 235 Shramik special Trains, 146 services were run from Telangana State to transport 1.87 lakh passengers while 71 trains were run from Andhra Pradesh including Guntakal and Anantapur to transport around 90,000 passengers and 18 trains were run from Maharashtra to transport around 24,000 passengers. While the respective State government authorities handled the registration, identification and booking of passengers' trains, Railways have drawn a comprehensive plan so as to ensure the total Train Operations are efficiently deployed to provide a hassle-free travel to all its passengers. Railway officials took the lead to streamline boarding of the passengers in the special trains after completion of the other formalities by the state govt. authorities.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR complimented the hard work rendered by the staff and officials involved in task of running Shramik special trains and expressed optimism that the team will continue to excel until the entire job is complete. General Manager advised them to strictly follow due precautions during the course of their duties.
