Guntur : District collector I Samuel Anand Kumar said that they were conducting 'War on Waste for Wellbeing' programme to create awareness among people on need to keep surroundings clean.
He addressed a meeting held at AS Sankaran Hall here on Monday on the occasion of inauguration of the fortnight-long programme. The programme will be conducted till December 21 in the district. Earlier, he released a logo and posters on 'War on Waste for Wellbeing.
Rajya Sabha member Alla Ayodhaya Rami Reddy stressed on need to keep the surroundings clean and added that there was need to conduct the programme to create awareness on need to keep surroundings clean. He said there was need to conduct the programme from every house, every ward and every village.
Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao felt that there was need to involve people, officials, NGOs to make the programme a success. MLA Mustafa said that there was need to conduct this type of programme to create awareness among the people on need to keep surroundings clean.
Earlier, they took out a rally from Collectorate to GMC office. The rally passed via Nagarampalem, Moodu Vanthenala centre, Hindu College and reached GMC office.
