Importance of breastfeeding stressed in Tirupati
Breastfeeding awareness programme was organised by B Vocational (B Voc) Nutrition and Health Care Science students and Home Science department of the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Friday.
Tirupati: Breastfeeding awareness programme was organised by B Vocational (B Voc) Nutrition and Health Care Science students and Home Science department of the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Friday.
The programme was held at Mangalam community hall in the city in which Prof M Aruna of the Home Science department has highlighted the importance of nutritional aspects of lactating mother and infants.
Dr S Santhi Sri has given an overview on the importance of breast milk and disadvantages of artificial feeding.
Dr V Bindu has given awareness on the importance of infant vaccines while role of Colustrum and its benefits to mothers and infants wad dealt by Kimeera Ambati.
Students of B Voc and Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics and Community Health Nutrition (CHN) have made different audio-visual aids like charts, posters, pamphlets, booklets, flash cards, puppets and also performed skits and dramas to create awareness among pregnant and lactating mothers on the need for breastfeeding.
