Tirupati: The police have arrested man fleecing drunken drivers on inter-state highway by impersonating police officer. SP Venkateswara Naik told the details of the case in the press conference held here on Sunday.
G Anil Kumar, 48, lives at Taraka Rama Rao Nagar in Renigunta. He had been demanding money from lorry drivers in the form of fines by posing as a police officer on the inter-state highway. He had been targeting drunken lorry drivers on the highway near Renigunta and Tirupati and charging fines.
Anil Kumar would introduce himself as a police officer, took drivers to remote places for alcohol and would loot gold, vehicles and money from them. The police have registered six cases against him.
