Collector says the performance of the banks is not up to the mark in sanctioning loans

Ongole: The Prakasam district collector Dr Pola Bhaskara ordered the officials to see all eligible people under Jagananna Thodu receive the benefits. The collector conducted a meeting on the Jagananna Thodu and YSR Bima with the banks and DRDA officials in the collectorate on Tuesday.

The collector said that the bankers have a responsibility to help all eligible beneficiaries under the Jagananna Thodu programme. He observed that only 19,706 beneficiaries received the loan from the banks from the total selected 51,822 beneficiaries in the district. He said that the performance of State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Syndicate Bank, Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank, Bank of India was not up to the expectation in sanctioning the loans and advised the concerned officers to take initiative.

The collector also ordered the bankers to send the insurance premium collected from the YSR Bima registered people to the insurance company immediately. He said that there were 1,33,400 accounts under YSR Bima in the district and ordered the APMs and MPDOs to monitor the registrations secretariat wise and sensitise the bank managers. He ordered them to see that at least 100 people join the scheme daily.

Joint collector TS Chetan, LDM Yugandhar, in-charge DRDA PD Narayana, Insurance APO Battu Venkatrao, DPM LH Sanitha, Diary APO Chandrasekhar and others also participated in the programme.
