Kadapa: The Kadapa mandal Agriculture Advisory Council (KAAC) meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha has stressed the need of seeking advises from the farmers over the development of cultivation in the district.

The meeting also decided to bring awareness among farmers over irrigating short-term crops with less water for securing high yields.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and also KAAC Chairman Amzath Basha said the main aim of establishing KAAC at state, district, mandal level was to strengthen the cultivation by bringing awareness in the farming community over latest scientific developments and drastic changes occurring in the agriculture.

He said that different kinds of crops is being grown in 1,700 hectares in Kadapa mandal against total crop irrigated area in hectors 1.06 lakh hectares in the district.

He said the government was keen on supporting the farmers for irrigating crops throughout the year by providing supplying agriculture needs like water, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides at subsidy rates, through Rythu Bharosa Centers, and also facilitating Rs 13,500 for crop expenditures.

The minister said that in view of providing Minimum Support Price to the farmers and avoiding the role of middle men, the government has decided to purchase farm produce at village level.

Yeruka kendram scientist Dr Veeraiah said that farmers need not face hardship in the current kharif season as monsoon has entered earlier in the state.

K Raja Reddy, a farmer advised the government to provide bank linkage loans to the tenant farmers as the bankers are not showing interest in that aspect. Agriculture Joint Director Murali Mohan and others were present
