Kakinada: District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said that as the lockdown has been announced up to March 31, no vehicles would be allowed in the district. Collector Reddy and Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi inspected the vehicles at Balajicheruvu Junction and Jagannaickpur Bridge here on Tuesday.
Reddy has made it clear that the motorists, lorry and auto drivers should not ply their vehicles for public transportation and warned that severe action will be taken against the drivers. He said that the state government has imposed a lockdown in the state in view of the increasing threat of coronavirus in the state and public transportation has been prohibited. He said that crowds will not be tolerated in public places and action would be taken against those violating the government's guidelines. Reddy said that essential services will remain open during the time of lockdown.
He said that they are only allowed to go out from 6 am to 10:00 am for the purchase of essential goods, milk, fruits and vegetables and no vehicles will be allowed after 10 am. District Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi said that as per the guidelines they will not allow overcrowding in public places at any cost.
Except in case of an emergency, no one will be allowed to roam on streets. He warned that if these guidelines were violated, people will face legal action. SP Asmi said that check posts were being setup at all national highways in the district and vehicles would not be allowed in the district. Later, they seized the vehicles who were found violating the rules.
