Kakinada: Under the directions of Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi, Prohibition and Excise department conducted 'Operation Sura' in East Godavari district on Wednesday.
A total of 1,000 police personnel took part in the raids that began at 4 am and continued till 10 am. They destroyed the 10,465 litres of fermented jaggery wash and seized the illicitly distilled liquor in the district. The teams raided the illicit distillation units brewing country liquor in the district and arrested 27 persons involved in the activity. The police seized 525 liquor bottles.
About 1000 police personnel took part in the raids at Vantada village of Prathipadu mandal, Sangavaka village of Kotanandurur mandal, J Kothuru village of Jaggampeta mandal, Thimmapuram village of Kakinada Rural, Godithippa village of Allavaram mandal, Uppada village of U Kothapalli mandal, Chinturu and Yetapaka areas.
