Kurnool: Doctors at a private hospital (Neravati Hospital) in Nandyal have successfully removed a fibroid weighing five kgs from a woman's uterus on Friday. Dr Neravati Aruna Kumari said to The Hans India that one Yasmin, aged 30 years and resident of Nandyal town was suffering from severe stomach pain for some time. She had several check-ups in Kurnool and Nandyal, but did not get relief from the pain, said the doctor.

Two days ago, the patient was admitted in our hospital for the same problem. We had performed a series of tests and scanning. During the course of diagnosing the actual problem was detected, a fibroid was noted in her embryo sac. The patient was informed about the problem. After getting her family members' consent, a surgery was performed and it was removed, added Dr Aruna.

She also said that the patient was suffering from unbearable pain from menstruation cycle. During the time she was bleeding profusely. However, the problem was diagnosed and the patient was relieved from the pain, Dr Aruna Kumari said.

The patient is healthy and is presently under care. She would be discharged in another five days. A team of doctors, Dr Sahadevudu, Dr Shabnam and Dr Maldhu Sudhan (anesthesia) were present while performing surgery, stated Dr Aruna Kumari.
