Major challenges await new Collector Narayana Bharat Gupta
As part of transferring IAS officers, the AP government appointed Narayana Bharat Gupta as new Collector for Chittoor district. He is expected to take charge within couple of days, according to official information.
Chittoor: As part of transferring IAS officers, the AP government appointed Narayana Bharat Gupta as new Collector for Chittoor district. He is expected to take charge within couple of days, according to official information.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy picked up Bharat Gupta expecting that he can handle pressure from the TDP especially from Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister is confident of new Collector would meet people's expectations as YSRCP won 13 out of 14 Assembly and 3 MP seats in the district.
The previous TD government had failed to complete minor irrigation projects like HNSS Kuppam Branch Canal which can provide water for drinking and irrigation purpose to Thamballapalle, Madanapalle, Punganur and Palamaner and Kuppam Assembly segments. Gupta has to give priority for irrigation projects and at the same time he has to supervise bifurcation of the district which was promised by the YSRCP during polls.
Speaking to The Hans India over mobile, Bharat Gupta said that it would be a challenging task for him to work in the district despite serving as Sub-Collector and Joint Collector in the past. "I can only spell out my priorities after taking charge as District Collector," he stated.
