Markapuram: District Projects Special Collector G Gangadhar Goud, DROs M Seshireddy, Pula Subbaiah Veligonda. Project Deputy Special Collector B Chandraleela and other officers conducted Gramasabhas in Gundamcharla, Kalanuthala and Sunkesula villages on Wednesday to receive acceptance letters from the oustees in the submerging villages.

The villagers from the Gundamcharla and Kalanuthala villages agreed at last to accept one-time settlement packages for Rs 12.50 lakh without construction of houses in the settlement colony or Rs 6.36 lakh with the construction of houses in the settlement colony. After persuasion from the Special Collector, the oustees agreed to the package. They signed the documents of R&R package acceptance after the Special Collector made a promise to also include the people who were not covered in the 2006 economic survey and those people who became majors in the meantime. The Gundamcharla locals also demanded house sites to them near Devaraju Gattu village only and the Special Collector agreed.

However, the Sunkesula villagers refused to sign the documents even after requests from the Special Collector for many times. They did not relent on their demand for enhancement of one-time settlement package to Rs 20 lakh to receive their signatures.

Tahsildars Umarani, Kiran, Nehrubabu, YSRCP mandal president Palireddy Krishnareddy, and others also participated in the program.
