MGNREGS workers stage dharna in Korukonda
Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (MGNREGS) workers sat on a dharna at the Mandal Praja Development Office here on Friday where the officials were conducting social audit and praja vedika.
Korukonda: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (MGNREGS) workers sat on a dharna at the Mandal Praja Development Office here on Friday where the officials were conducting social audit and praja vedika.
The MGNREGP workers led by their leader B Subba Rao, P Nagamani etc lodged a complaint to the officials against the field assistant PS Rao alleging that he was misusing funds to a tune of Rs 66 lakh relating to the MGNREGP works executed between the years 2017-2019.
The officials suspended the field assistant on the allegations then and later with the recommendation of former TDP MPA P Venkatesh he was reinstated. They demanded the officials to suspend him immediately and recover the amount which was misused.
Social Audit Presiding Officer A Shanthi, Assistant Project Director K Vara Prasad, Vigilance Officer MB Prakash, Mandal Praja Development Officer NVVS Murthi assured the agitating MGNREGP workers to initiate action against them after enquiring into the allegations.
