Visakhapatnam: From an arduous 10,063-km 'Bharat Darshan Yatra,' covering 17 States and two Union Territories on a motorcycle that lasted for 45 days to his love for adventure sports and a series of trekking expeditions, Naganaboina Nageswara Rao (NNR) never gets tired of talking about his adventurous trips.

Chronicling his travel experiences that dates back to 2004, Nageswara Rao is all set to launch his 177-page book in Telugu 'Kalala Rahadaripai' (on the dream path) – 'Na Bharata Yatranubhavalu' (my travel experiences across India).

Though this is the sixth book in the series, NNR, as he is fondly referred to in his circle, says that he authored it in 2005 after completing his Bharat Darshan Yatra that focussed on promoting road safety. "However, I did not get any publisher for the book until I met K S Mohan Kumar and his wife Madhavi Suhasini, who supported in getting 'Kalala Rahadaripai' published," he says.

A journalist by profession, NNR is also a theatre artiste, All India Radio casual announcer and an anchor. His book 'Kalala Rahadaripai' brings out nostalgic journeys that take one down the memory lane. "It took me a month to compile the book that contains interesting episodes I had come across during the expedition. For those who like to set out on a similar adventurous trip, it also acts as a travelogue," says NNR.

Apart from the adventures of 45-day-long expedition, the book contains road safety measures to be followed, documents to be carried, places visited, distance travelled every day, challenges faced and of course, some of his unforgettable experiences.

"There were days when my friend Bharadwaj and I had to rely on a handful of dry fruits for dinner. In some places, it was tough to get an accommodation for a night stay. That's when open spaces turn into a comfort zone for us to slip into a slumber," recalls the vice-president of National Union of Journalists, who bagged gold medal in PG Diploma in Theatre Arts, Andhra University.

In 2016, NNR was part of five-member team of the Uttarandhra Journalists Friends, who completed 2,600-odd km expedition, travelling across 144 mandals of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam that focussed on understanding the backwardness of Uttarandhra.

'Uttarandhra Vilapam', 'Uttarandhra Kanneelu' are some of NNR's earlier works. In addition, he had also contributed significantly to books such as 'Uttarandhra Sahithi Sikharalu' and 'Manyam Lo Mahodayam'. As part of his next project, NNR is working on another book centred on the Sarada river.
