Nellore: Postal department has released a stamp on Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, who fought for the separate state for Andhra Pradesh from Madras State.

Superintendent of Posts Karunakar Babu informed that the release of stamp was celebrated at the residence of freedom fighter and Potti Sriramulu award winner K V Chalamaiah.

'My Stamp' is being conducted by the postal department and the senior official said they had released stamps of Sriramulu in Nellore city and the stamp of Pingali Venkaiah in Machilipatnam during the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

He said they had preferred septuagenarian Chalamaiah, who participated in many programmes along with Sri Potti Sriramulu.

Chalamaiah said he was very happy to release the stamp in the name of Amarajeevi respecting his great sacrifices to the state.

He said that he participated in many activities with Sriramulu between 1945 and 1952 and Amarajeevi spent some time at their residence in Nellore.

Assistant Superintendents of postal department L V Murali Kumar, Public Relations Inspector M Ramesh and others were present.
