Former Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy points out that the workers have been facing problems for the last five months due to lack of employment following the shortage of sand.

Flays the YSRCP govt for stopping all developmental works.

Nellore: TDP leaders organised a protest at the RTC Bus Station in the city on Wednesday expressing solidarity with the construction workers who have been staging protests on the shortage of sand that led to difficulties for livelihood.

Former Mayor Abdul Aziz staged relay hunger strike and former Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy offered him lemon juice in the evening to end the fast.

Somireddy who visited the venue of the relay fast criticised the State government for creating hurdles to the development of the State in many spheres. They stopped constriction of houses, toilets and even capital city of the State, he said.

He recalled that the TDP government had earlier supplied sand free of cost and now it has become pricey following the decisions of the State government.

The former Minister said construction workers have been facing troubles for the last 5 months due to lack of employment following a shortage of sand. He said the sand scarcity resulted in slump in the realty sector and also construction activity.

"TDP continued the schemes of Dr YSR, K Rosaiah, and Kiran Kumar Reddy. But, Jagan's government is not continuing the practice making things complex. Now, the investors are afraid of the new systems and are not showing any interest in opening their units in the State," said Somireddy. Local TDP leaders were present.
