Nellore: TDP leaders staged relay hunger protests against power tariff hike
Former Minister S Chandramohan Reddy alleges that the district administration has failed to provide transportation to migrant labourers, though the Chief Minister directs them to provide transportation
Nellore: TDP City President Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, former Municipal Chairperson Tallapaka Anuradha, women wing district president Vijetha, and party leader V Pattabhiramireddy staged relay hunger protests in the city on Thursday demanding the stage government to roll back the enhanced power tariff.
Former Minister and senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy extended his solidarity to the fasting.
He addressed the leaders at the venue and flayed the state government for steeply increasing the power tariff during the lockdown.
He said many sectors are now facing heat from the lockdown crisis and the government has failed to control the crisis.
Cheap brands of liquor are being sold at higher prices, he said. Somireddy demanded the government to collect bills for May similar to bills of March and April if the Government is committed to the welfare of people.
He said migrant labourers are also facing hardships as administration has failed to solve their problems with regard to transportation. Party district president B Ravi Chandra and others were present.
Kadapa: In response to the call given by TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, party leaders organised a protest against steep hike of power tariff at several places in the district.
Pulivendula party in-charge Maram Reddy Ravindranath Reddy, (B. Tech Ravi), Kamalapuram in-charge Putha Narasimha Reddy, Proddatur in charge N Praveen Kumar Reddy along with their party men staged protest on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons in Pulivendula party in charge B Tech Ravi alleged that it is unfortunate state government hiked the power bills as the people face hardships for the livelihood of family members due to lockdown.
He criticised opening of liquor shops to get revenue to state and sub- standard IML products are being sold at higher prices,
Kamalapuram party in-charge P Narasimha Reddy urged the people to support the TDP in the on going stir.
He said government totally failed in preventing illegal transportation of sand, and illicit liquor.
