Officials conduct raids to check sale of polythene
The Kakinada municipal authorities headed by AMC, Ch Naga Narasimha Rao and MHO Dr P Lakshmi Devi conducted raids on plastic bag whole sellers in Kakinada and surrounding areas.
Kakinada: The Kakinada municipal authorities headed by AMC, Ch Naga Narasimha Rao and MHO Dr P Lakshmi Devi conducted raids on plastic bag whole sellers in Kakinada and surrounding areas. While the MHO seized 600 kilo of plastic bags and collected Rs 25,000 penalties, the AMC collected penalties to the tune of Rs 40,000 from retail and whole sellers in the last two days on Monday and Tuesday.
On this occasion the officials made it clear that polythene carry bags below 50 microns should not be sold to carry food stuffs and other items. Besides, the use of plastic bags is also causing environment pollution.
The two officials asked the public to use cloth bags instead of the banned polythene carry bags. The officials' appealed top public too help the authorities in keeping the city clean and environment friendly.
