Officials told to respond to grievances of SCs, STs: K Sriramulu

Kakinada: National Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission member K Sriramulu has said the Commission has been making endeavours to address the problems being faced by the SC and ST communities.
Sriramulu held a meeting with District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy and Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi at Roads and Buildings guest house here on Saturday. He said he had directed the officials to receive petitions from the people belonging to the SCs and STs and ensure response to their complains and grievances.
The Commission is visiting all the districts in the State to inquire into the complaints. He regretted that the incidents of rape were reported from Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Commission also received complaints of inadequate facilities in the Social Welfare Hostels.
He urged the officials to ensure basic amenities in hostels. He said a petition would be submitted the President soon on the issues being faced by the Dalits. The police were directed to act promptly in cases relating to the atrocities on SCs and STs.
Social Welfare Deputy Director Sobharani, Kakinada RDO Chinni Krishna and others were present.
