Ongole: The managing director of Ramesh Sanghamitra Hospital in Ongole, Dr D Tirumala Reddy announced that their doctors' team has successfully performed a kidney transplant operation recently and the patient is good.
Tirumala Reddy explained that a 30-year-old man, a native of Guntur district, was suffering from kidney disease for the last four months. The patient is on hemodialysis since November 2019 and as he is young, the doctors' team counselled him for a renal transplant and his mother offered the kidney. After the regular and relevant investigations, the doctors found that the mother's kidney is suitable and the young man has a chance of being off dialysis.
The managing director said that once the decision is made, they formed a team of doctors with Dr. Sridhar Reddy, Dr. Malakonda Reddy and Dr. Vamsi Krishna and ready will all necessary updates to the lab and transplant ICU are done. The patient underwent kidney transplant successfully on the eighth of March and both donor and recipient are safe and doing well, he added.
The doctor announced that this is the first of its kind surgery in Prakasam district, which was used to get it done in cities earlier. He congratulated the doctors' team for successfully performing the surgery in Ramesh Sanghamitra Hospital in Ongole.
