Social Welfare Minister and Prakasam district in-charge Minister Pinipe Viswarupu on Wednesday said the district administration is making efforts to distribute house sites to 1.10 lakh families in the district by Ugadi.

The Minister along with his Cabinet colleagues Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Adimulapu Suresh and Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy was participating in the District Development Review Committee meeting held at the Collectorate on Wednesday. Speaking to the press after the meeting, Viswarupu said the officials were asked to prepare plans to ensure that there is no water scarcity in summer. He directed the officials to chalk out plans and send them to the government.
The Minister said he had reviewed the progress of works under MGNREGS scheme and also possible water scarcity in the coming summer. The administration sent a report to the government that Rs 5,000 crore was required to solve water scarcity once and for all. He said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed the officials to ensure that housing plots are distributed to 25 lakh families by Ugadi.
