Lockdown in Anantapur: Only home supply of food items will be permitted from hotels, restaurants

Lockdown in Anantapur: In view of the rapid increase in the number of covid-19 cases in the district after easing lockdown restrictions after June 3, the district administration as per the instructions of the state government has once again imposed limited lockdown in the municipal limits from June 21 and also in Dharmavaram, Pamidi, Yadiki, Kadiri and Penukonda towns.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday along with SP B Sathya Yesu Babu, the Collector said that the limited lockdown will be in force for a week after which the situation will be reviewed once again. After 11 am in the morning lockdown will be in force until 6.00 am the next morning. Except for government servants and other essential workers, others will not be allowed to move on the roads, he said.

He regretted that due to negligence on the part of the general public, corona cases have shot up to 600 in the district. From Sunday onwards, hotels and restaurants and tea stall etc will be closed for the general public. Only home supply of food items will be permitted. Auto-rickshaws and cabs will not be allowed to ply. Banks and financial institutions will function normally. Chicken and mutton centres can sell from 6 am to 11 am and Sunday will be a closed holiday.

All shop keepers have to take steps to see that customers maintain social distance while standing in a queue. So far 45,000 people had been tested for coronavirus. Among those who tested positive, hospitalisation was not needed to 85 per cent of people. But they were confined to home isolation under the supervision of doctors and para-medical workers.

SP B Sathya Yesu Babu said that those coming on the roads without wearing masks will be fined hugely. He said that the vehicular movement is being restricted to contain the spread of the virus.
