Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha released a poster and inaugurated an online application registration for the 7th State-level kids Quran recitation and memorisation competition here on Thursday.

Addressing the media, the Deputy Chief Minister said that apart from Muslims, all other community people can also participate in this competition which reflects the secularism of the country. He said that the present youth were getting addicted to social media and spoiling their lives.

He said that it was a tragedy that even young people were getting glued to the gadgets like smart phones, internet, computer games, thus ruining their mental and physical health. They should take more interest in sports and academics, and reading of religious and philosophical books.

By reciting a spiritual book daily one can keep oneself away from bad addictions, Amzath added. The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the United Forum for Quaranic Studies for organising this competition for the past six years.
