Rain causes Rs 225 crore loss in Nellore

Nellore: The district suffered a loss of Rs 225 crore in terms of crops, roads and highways and other structures due to rains caused by the cyclone Nivar. The loss to the crops or sowings has been estimated at Rs 7.80 crore and others are at Rs 217.40 crore.
The loss to the paddy sowings was Rs 4.12 crore, loss to crops such as black gram at Rs 1.33 crore, green gram Rs 1.2 lakh, Bengal gram Rs 4.50 lakh, pulses Rs 12.70 lakh, maize Rs 20.04 lakh, groundnut Rs 1.90 lakh, banana plantations Rs 1.08 crore and other vegetables at Rs 75 lakh in the entire district.
Further, housing projects received a loss of Rs 30.43 lakh, municipal roads Rs 4.23 crore, 94 irrigation tanks Rs 11.75 cr, R&B roads worth Rs 6.40 crore, PR tanks at Rs 192.86 cr and the handloom equipment at Rs 1.84 lakh.
