Rajamahendravaram: A book expo was conducted at Sri Gowthami Regional Library (SGRL) here on Tuesday as part of National Library Week celebrations.

Gazetted Librarian RCH Venkat Rao, grade one Librarian K Sudhakar inaugurated the expo.

Copper plates, palmleaf inscriptions, many valuable books on various subjects were displayed in the expo. The book lovers expressed pleasure on seeing the rare books in the expo.

Later, Gazetted Librarian Venkat Rao said the library is having thousands of books along with rare and valuable books, copper plates, palmleaf inscriptions etc. Many research scholars across the State are using the library for their reference.

Vegulla Sirish donated 120 books in English, Velamati Satyanarayana donated 40 Telugu literary books and Sai Padham donated Rs 17,500 worth of books to the library. He said SGRL is the pride of the historical city and appealed to the people and students to use the library to enhance their knowledge.

SGRL moved into new building with all facilities on the same premises, he averred.
